Honda 2000 generator

Anyone out there running a honda 2000 genny on propane? If so what are your likes and dislikes and how does it compare db wise to gas? Input greatly appreciated

I too am interested in your question regarding using propane with the 2kw Honda.

The fact that gasoline is a little more btu-laden is not necessarily decisive to me, if I'm not carrying gasoline for any other reason, and have an exterior propane hookup.

The Yamaha sounds attractive too, Kerry. I would like to know more about it.

The more I learn, the less I seem to know, about choosing a genset.

I hope to learn more here. I am ready to buy, but don't feel I know enough yet.

    Thanks for bringing this up.

but it doesn't go "bad" and have to be continually replaced. more important for a house type unit than RV with small tank.

  • Ive been looking at some of the portable inverters and the Yamaha 2400i Hybrid really caught my eye. It can be run on propane, natural gas, or gasoline without any change overs.

  • Gasoline has about 115,000 Btu's per gallon while propane is only about 95,000 Btu's per gallon. So you start out using 20% more gallons just to make up the same BTU content. Of course alcohol is only 65,000 Btu's per gallon so cheap fuel might have poor Btu content like propane.

For reference, diesel is about 135,000 Btu's per gallon, leading to it having 20% higher fuel mileage.
