honda 2000 watt gen vibration

I've thought of doing the same with my 3k Honda but decided not to because of exhaust fumes and possible vibration issues. My 2k Honda is super easy to move wherever and the 3k Honda usually stays in the truck like Roy b. It's there right now ready for wherever I go J while the 2k rides inside.

"vibration" from your gen is completely normal and should be expected..

Strapping the gen to the back of your trailer now easily couples the vibration and noise directly to your trailers frame making it more noticeable.

While you could try a heavy rubber mat (like a 1/2" horse stall mat) I highly doubt you are going to eliminate 100% of the vibration..

Personally I would not be all the keen about having a portable gen mounted so close to my trailer.. Seems like a good chance of carbon monoxide poisoning (YES, I realize motorhomes have built in gens but they also are subject to gen exhaust getting into the RV).

A better solution is to keep your gen in the back of your truck and add a permanent "extension" cord from your shore cord up to your trailer tongue..

I did that with my TT and gen (120 lb 4Kw Chinese clone gen), my TT has a access door with the mouse hole, I put a 120V 30A RV socket (female end) inside the back wall of the cord storage.. Ran 10Ga wire up to the tongue and put a male plug on that end.

I plug the shore cord into the socket inside the access door when not on shore power.

Now all I do is plug in a short extension cord into the tongue plug and the other end into the gen socket..

Gen sits up at the front of my truck bed giving me about 12ft of separation between trailer and gen..

Vibration is not coupled to the trailer and the 12ft helps reduce noise inside the trailer..

Rubber horse mats work well. I've seen people use them to isolate vibrations between the generator and the truck's bed.

My 2KW Honda Generator was purchased from MAYBERRYs back in 2008. I still like "out of sight - out of mind" for keeping my 2KW Generator safe from thief.

Mounting my 2KW Generator out in the open on the rear bumper of my trailer would be a scary move for me. I still carry my generator secured in the tailgate corner of my covered-closed and locked truck bed. I just move the generator out onto the truck tailgate and plug in the trailer shore power cable when I need to use it to charge batteries for the trailer. Generator never leaves the tailgate area of my truck. It goes where I go...

Just used it yesterday in a WALMART parking getting a ladies battery charged up enough to start her car.

Almost never let the generator sit out in the open on the tailgate unattended...

I put a pad like these under a different generator and it worked well to reduce felt vibration and vibration noise in a truck bed.
