Honda Pilot used as a tow vehicle

Looking for a new tow SUV for a T@B trailer about 2000#.
Is a 2017 Honda Pilot a good choice?
Can anyone give me MPG when towing?
  • Should be just fine if you have the model with the 5000 lb tow rating. I see they have a 2WD that can tow 3500 lbs. Might be pushing it a bit if you get near 3000 lbs.

and if that's the fantasy weight, your trailer will quickly become a 3000 lb trailer "road ready"

  • Welcome to the forum.

Nothing about RV'ing is energy efficient, it's not practical to worry about MPG. Really it's just a brag used mostly by diesel drivers. Just assume the mileage will be awful and plan fuel stops accordingly.

That's what I noticed most when I was towing with a station wagon, the 16 gallon fuel tank didn't get me very far on each fill.
