That's very expensive

its mostly used for out doors .

I know you like the motorcycle wheeled trailer because it's light and can be folded up. But that 250 lb limit is going to get you. What about this Harbor Freight trailer? It only weighs 130 pounds so you can probably flip it on it's side or stand it up on end when stored. Link
It has an 850 pound capacity, and only cost $185. I would of course buy a spare tire and probably repack the bearings before towing it. But, at $185 you can probably afford to just throw new bearings and tires at it out of the box and still be dollars ahead.

We've somewhat settled on one of these roof top models for our Jeep Patriot. Then getting a small trailer for it if sleeping on the roof doesn't work out.

We sold our truck and camper and hotels will see much more of us. Yet small primitive campgrounds still attract us. For a night or two.

Large RV parks are one of the reasons we sold our TC. That and getting rid of my 11 year old 2003 Chevy Duramax money pit.

Less Stuff: Your needs = fold up and raise to the ceiling. I can think of a couple options.

Maybe use that roof topper pop up on a little heavier fold-up trailer. Maybe some of those harbor freight trailer suggestions are fold-up, but there are quite a number of fold-up trailers and you should be able to choose one that is light enough and small enough to meet your needs.

Another idea, if you had the truck and camper maybe you still have a truck. DW and I tried a truck bed tent for a year when moved to VA from WY and couldn't take our pop-up slide-in camper (apartment restrictions). It was great! Stowed and air mattress empty and 91 gallon diesel tank tool box and all camping gear (porti-potti and pop up shower/bathroom tent, 5 gal water, propane stove, folding plywood bed platform, chairs, table, 4 stow bins, etc. ALL fit below a bed rail height tonnuea (sp) cover. Found a YouTube video of the rig. Looks a bit complicated to put the tent up in rain or wind.
Yet a very good option if you could use a utility trailer as well. We don't need one at all.
We don't have a place to even store one.
The Yakima can be stored in a very small space.

E-mailed Yakima about my plan. They replied that the 250 lb weight limit applied even with the trailer parked. So some sort of extra external support would be needed for using there nice trailer and sleeping in the mounted roof top tent.

Can only hold 250 lbs moving or parked.

The Costco link I posted before is no longer valid. They moved it again, but it is also $400 off until end of november - now costs $1999

I agree with the statement: Get a Harbour Freight trailer and bolt it down to the frame. I t has lights, fenders and a rated capacity of 1000 lbs. It can be registered and legal anywhere.

I've even built a few home brews on top of the trailer frame a time or two.
