Injectors are very expensive on any of the newer trucks. Also with 50 lbs of chi!! stuffed into a 25#bag it makes them hard to work on.

A friend had a 6.0 Ford F-250 for a bit less than 2 years and then traded for a Ram. His 6.0 seemed like it was always in the shop. After he traded he figured up just how many days his 6.0 had been in the shop and it turned out the Ford dealer had it more days than he did.
His brother in law who we camped with some also had a 6.0 F-250 for a couple of years. He was constantly bragging how much power and how great his 6.0 was. However seemed like every time we were going camping he couldn't go because his truck was in the shop.

we just crossed over Wolf Creek pass in colo. The V10 got as low as 25MPH, BUT, we still were able to PASS a NEW Dodge that was struggling to make it over! Dont know what his problem was but he eventually pulled in behind us at the crest. Left before we did but he was stopped again just down the road!

I pulled it last year with MY 6.0 ford no issues. Yes, he had a 32-35 5th wheel in tow, I was in our new to us 29 ft MH with a towd.

My friend bought an 07 DRW Lariat with 175k miles for $16k. Perfect interior and exterior, clean Carfax and OASIS reports. Immediately took it to a diesel mechanic in town and had EGR delete done, head studs installed with 4" turbo back exhaust and gauges. With an SCT tuner, that thing screams. Uses it to pull his Big Country 3450TS, horses, loads of hay, whatever. Transmission is always in the right gear.

The bad part about it? He doesn't like the way the stereo sounds, he wants to upgrade it.

I am not sure what it is that compels people to roll the dice with this engine? Ford and IH spent millions beating each other up in court to see who was going to covering the warranty costs. Some would call that a clue, suggesting that there most be substantial issues with that motor. There are countless threads on countless diesel forums which talk about them (80% negative I would guess). There are options in the same year from the other two that don't have near the issues or if you like Ford get a 6.7 or back down to a 7.3. The issues they say can be fixed with enough parts and money, but why subject yourself to that kind of $ layout and potential disruption on the highway. It equates to putting lipstick on pig, you can dress it up, fix the design issues, but it is still the same pig. Worse yet, after dumping the money into them, they simply don't resale. Some do seem to run, but the book has already been written on this boat anchor.

The people that have had no problems will say they are fine if you "bullit proof it" and the ones that have had troubles will steer you in another direction.

You asked so my advice is to sell it and get something that has not had such a bad track record.

And we also read about people who buy RAM's who complain about the ride is too harsh on the DRW or the vehicle is too tall right after the purchase.

I could tell you the track record on the number of RAM's I saw pulling campers on our trip to Florida and back, or should I say the lack of! From TX, LA, Miss, AL, Fl, the ratio of RAM trucks compared to GM and Ford was a shocking 10:1 with Ford and GM at a very close race. But maybe they weren't full timers like you report. :R

I seen more Ford Super Duty 6.0 PSD going to Florida than I saw RAM cummins of any year going there and back combined. :W

BTW... The half ton trucks had RAM at a much less ratio but that's another thread.
