This is a myth that never materialized.
Coming to truck loading, the taxable rating is one thing, what you can load is another.
My 2017 F350 dually is rated at 14k, yet it carries 6500lb camper with no modification.
Actually due to COG behind the axle, the camper adds 6700lb on rear axle.
Aluminium beds shave quite few hundreds lb from rear axle load, what gives you higher payload.
