It sounds like your issue is meeting the door sticker requirement more than the functional or operational performance requirement of the truck loaded with a camper.
This statement is exactly correct. As we all know there are many mods that can be done to a truck to make it ride better, or level it out, or whatever, but none can change what the sticker says. Every one of these mods actually makes the sticker issue worse by taking away payload by adding weight when installed.
MrPhelps, I would be very interested in hearing your weight numbers when you take possession of your new camper. From the weight comparisons I've made from different Cascade campers I think the numbers Host are providing are quite close to reality.
Now that I have confirmation that Ram trucks can have a sticker in the 5500 to 5600 pound range is nice to hear. Maybe Ford is the same although Ford would be my last choice just based on looks. I've been a longtime GMC/Chevy owner and its hard to change when you get used to and trust a certain manufacturer. But, if this is what it takes then a change will be necessary for any camper at this level to stay within the trucks sticker limits.
I guess its time to visit some Ram and Ford dealerships to see what they have on their lots.
