Bottom line buy a truck that is rated to carry the weight of the camper you want to carry without modifications, right Bedlam.
If you already have a truck, there are upgrades that will allow it to carry more weight. If it requires a door jam sticker (like in BC), maybe taking it to an upfitter is an option for you. My truck has an OEM and upfitter sticker reflecting my configured and optioned truck.
I upgraded my F250 to carry my Arctic Fox but knew there was not enough truck to carry my current Host. Rather than buying something that immediately needed upgrades, I chose a truck that could carry a Mammoth in stock configuration. Now that I have added an additional 1000 lbs of storage boxes and batteries to my truck, I did add upper StableLoads. This was done to keep the truck level when my trailer is also in tow. Without the trailer, I am slightly rear high and like this setup without needing bags or other devices.
