Sorry, I should have elaborated. The P3 is the Tekonsha brake controller. Do you meant downgrade the controller to the Prodigy 2?
No. I believe he misunderstood you. Do NOT even consider switching to a P2 controller from a P3. You will gain nothing by doing so. He was suggesting you back off on the controller’s braking power.
