hot electric plug

Put your fridge on propane and/or hot water heater and use the additional 15/20 amp plug at the power pole for the crock pot.

It's just from running too many things at one time most likely. With this heat the AC uses a lot of juice. I have had the same problem and just running my Water heater on propane and usually relieves the draw enough to keep the plug from overheating.

Yep, the 30amp outlets gets the most use and is probably worn and doesn't secure the male end of your cord snug enough. That is the most likely source of your hot cord problem.

Voltage has nothing to do with this. The receptacle is simply worn out.
In a case like this, where ever you feel heat there is a bad connection.

There is a bad connection at the point of the heat.

Most likely it is the outlet at the pole.....that is worn out so that the spring tension in the contacts is mostly gone.

But it could also be a bad connection inside your plug.

If it was a general overload, the entire cord would be hot.....or at least warm.

As mentioned, having a 50 to 30 adapter handy is a good idea. Use it any time that the 30 amp plug feels loose when you plug it in......and there is a 50 amp outlet available, of course.

In that case, I would just clean up my plug contacts with a sandpaper nail file and some steel wool and try again but if it still gets hot I would not use the air conditioner. If the rubber around the blade contacts is melted I think I would forgo the air conditioner anyway and just open as many windows as possible and run the exhaust fan if you have one.

Problem is we are on our last night at a state park. likely the maintenance is not as up to par as a private park. I do not have any other adapters to try, and they do not have 50 amp service. Dont wanna butn my camper up :)

Most likely the 30amp connection in the box is worn and not allowing good contact. This generates a lot of heat and can even melt the plug. As already mentioned, warm is ok but hot is something to be concerned about. Make sure your plug on the 30amp cord is clean and bright so good contact can be made inside the receptacle.

In addition, I would get a 50amp male to 30amp female adapter and use that to plug into the pedestal on the 50amp side. That outlet is usually in much better shape and won't destroy your expensive 30amp cable and plug. I use mine all the time. There is no danger to your rig from using that adapter.

The amperage draw running through it is too high regardless of what it's rated for and therefore it's heating up. You may have a problem depending on how hot it actually is. Warn you can live with but Hot is something different.
