Actually Ford Australia has the Barra 4 litre straight six 410hp, 415lbs ft of torque at 1800rpm
Here is a STREET version putting out 1000hp.

Here is a similar conversion. The Territory CUV used to have the turbo engine as well
A 8second Ford Ute with slightly destroked engine
The Ecoboost just becomes another turbo engine at that boost

Over the years, a lot of interesting Fords and GM's designed for the Australian market, by both GM Australia and Ford Australia, no question.

My question for you Robert, as an Australian car buff, what do you think will happen once both Ford and GM shut down their Australian factories ?

BTW, I don't know why Ford/GM are closing down their Australian operations. Lot's of good design and enthusiasm have come from the Australian branches.

They seem to be retaining their design studios and in Fords case hiring more designers to work on Various projects. they also test new Projects as well
It is a tragedy with the Falcon , Territory and the Ute. Unfortuntely Australians were not buying the imported products to flesh out their lineup. Same goes with GM, the Commodore being the "engine room" of the lineup It was for many years the best selling car in Australia
A combination of a high Australian Dollar, poor internal sales, Head Offices in the US cutting off export markets, the cars were "orphans" in the global lineup, and extreme competition in Australia, we have twice the number of models available than the U.S.

  • Artificially aspirated motors can produce incredible power, but longevity is a desirable trait also.
  • They are putting that in the Ford GT for 2016 I think. And a 420 HP version is coming for the Raptor
