How and were to get the best price on a Truck?

I have narrowed my choices down to a one ton 3500 dually, 4x4, four door, Ford Lariat or King Ranch diesel or Dodge Laramie/Longhorn diesel. Last week I send out my specifications to several parties...

It's not hard to find out the "dealer invoice" price on any vehicle (then factor in hold-backs, incentives, etc) so I'm always amazed when people make the negotiation process mysterious or difficult.
