how bad is keystone?

We are considering a keystone summerland 1800 bhb. I am reading some pretty scary reviews on keystones, particularly regarding leaking. The trailer is only 11k, which seems too good to be true. Thoughts on keystones anyone?

  • I've had Keystone RV's for years and never a problem. Like many have said nothing is perfect.
    Good luck.
  • Thanks ole guy and collie hauler. DH is handy and will do maintenance regularly. Im willing to spend more to get quality, but this floor plan is perfect for us. I cant find a floorplan that i like in artic fox, nash, or lance. The plans that might work are just a little too heavy and a little too big. I hope that caulking everything with Durabond will help.
  • My opinion is they are no better or worse then price point trailers in the same price range. Maintenance is the key to making even a low budget trailer last a long time. A small leak can turn into major damage in a short time regardless of the brand. Some trailers use all composite that aren't as subject to rot but at a higher cost as well.
  • most any TT will leak if you don't inspect the roof or do something stupid like walk on it with a small rock in the soles of your shoes, among many other things. Even leaning a ladder up to the side of the TT like I did. fortunately I caught before it rained.
