D@mn NRA! Nice high mark! Was that bobtail or with the camper on? LOL
Good to know I'm not the only one who races every "cop on a stick" (speed board) and tries to get the high score! - Grit_dogNavigator II

engine has its "sweat spot" where it will give you better economy and seems in Sprinter 75 mph gives sweater spot than 70
So guess what speed I am using?
Sound like you should use SpeedStick to control the sweating! LOL
Noone likes sweat spots! Ewwwww... - mkirschNomad II

I’m not sure where you are where their aren’t speed limits.
Most people take the speed limit as a suggestion. Some drive slower, but most push the speed limit upwards of 8-9MPH on a regular basis. Very few RELIGIOUSLY drive at EXACTLY the speed limit ALL THE TIME.

I've had every class of RV, except a TC. For what it's worth, my experience is that 65mph seems to be the most comfortable max for me, whether it's towed or motorized, and I can't imagine a TC would be any different.
When I drove with TC at 60 mph, I record each fill up on fuelly and my latest Sprinter shows marginal difference in fuel consumption between 70 and 75 mph. When air drag is definitely higher at higher speed, each engine has its "sweat spot" where it will give you better economy and seems in Sprinter 75 mph gives sweater spot than 70
So guess what speed I am using? - spectaExplorerNot to drift off topic but gas mileage has never been a concern as to how fast I drive.
I drive at speeds that I am comfortable at and the gas mileage is what it is. - Supercharged111ExplorerI was doing 75 from CO to MI and it's hard on gas. The truck is happier down at 65, 75 was the limit for not downshifting over the hills.
- monkey44Nomad IIAgree with 1Flyboy - we run generally 50-60, lots of back roads, enjoy the scenery, and are retired -- never in a hurry.

I was curious as we just came home from a 11 day, 2500 mile jaunt with our new to us Lance camper. Many of the freeways had 80mph speed limits. The truck runs fine at that speed and the fuel mileage drops a lot. It feels very stable and safe at that speed.
On the way home today, we had heavy rain as well. I was curious if it is asking too much of a truck camper, specifically the area with a window, to repel that kind of wind and rain.
I'm willing to give up the fuel mileage. What I don't want to do is cause the camper to leak more as a result of doing 80mph on a freeway.
Coming from me, who routinely makes a 300 mile jaunt in 4 hours flat including pit stops (not w camper), I sort of question the “heavy rain and 80mph” not from the camper leaking standpoint, but 80 in a downpour sounds like a good recipe for some fun hydro planing! - phillygExplorer III've had every class of RV, except a TC.
