- 2_RetiredExplorerAgree with using "navy shower" technique I use less than 5 gal per shower. One way I preserve space in gray tank is to use small basin in each kitchen sink for dish washing- one for soapy water the other to catch rinse water. When it's full I simply have DH dump that water outside. Probably a gallon of water each basin each time. Dumps enough to save room for at least 2 showers per weekend!
- WyoTravelerExplorerI think you may be overly concerned about nothing. Wife & I take a shower every morning. We do shut off while soaping up. We have never run out of hot water. We can go about 5 days between dumping. Our grey tank is 40 gallons. Been about the same on my last 3 RVs.
- Doug33ExplorerI never thought about using the propane and electric together. My previous TT was only propane. This new TT has both, but I haven't used the propane yet. So far it has been so hot outside that we have been taking relatively cooler temperature showers, so no issues yet.
- dahkotaExplorerWe can take 6 showers without filling our gray tank (32g) so I assume that each shower is less than 5 gallons. Since the water is so hot, maybe 2.5g comes from the hot water heater (the rest being cold). Since the recovery time is pretty quick and the HWH is running while we are showering and then drying off/getting dressed, I would bet that if we took more than one shower each in a row, we wouldn't run out of hot water. But once we got up to 6, we would begin running out of gray tank.
- GoldstalkerExplorerI use the Oxygenics and run the electric and propane together and have never ran out. Take a shower just like at home no navy showers for us. Seems like it won't run out maybe recovers around the same as the use.
- mosseaterExplorer III've always been more concerned with the impact on the gray tank than running out of hot water. With the elec. and gas on, we have never had a lack of hot water. And, ironically, it increases the time certain people like to stand in the shower which fills the gray tank faster.
If you manage your time and technique, you can take a very effective and pleasurable shower with very little water. When showering in the trailer rather than the campground shower house, I always apply the shampoo and gently massage it in without water. I then proceed to set the water temp. using the spent water that's too cold to soap the washcloth. Once I get in with the temp set, I turn off the water at the shower head so as not to upset the mix setting, and soap up all over. I then add a little water to my already soaped head and lather up. With the whole works all soaped up, I turn the shower head back on and do a final rinse from top to bottom. I've never measured it but I'm guessing I can take a good shower with about three gallons or less. It's clear the rest of the family isn't as efficient, but the average is probably less than 5 gal per member. Luckily, we use the available shower house more often so it's not much of an issue any way you slice it. If the gray tank fills up, that's what the blue tote is for. - kalynzooExplorerAssuming full hookups, so you don't have to worry about gray water level...the hot water in my rig is really hot, so I am guessing we shower with about a 50/50 mix. That means 12 gal till cold...aprox. When not conserving both my wife and I can shower without running out of hot water. She showers first as she uses hotter, I have never ended up with a cold shower.
My RV has both gas and elec options, if I turn on both I can reheat the tank in under 10 minutes. Never really timed it. - Pangaea_RonExplorer

- DtaylorExplorerRunning both electric and gas, about 12 - 14 minutes with the water steady flowing
