Check engine for idle hours, not just the miles, the truck may have been abused in that manner. A pair of two year old batteries, that where not kept completely charged are probably in poor condition. An immediate oil change would be in order, just like the owners manual states.

A friend of mine just bought a new 2017 Ram 1500 for a serious reduction in price. I would consider the purchase after doing a lot of homework.
