The odometer reads only 51 miles.
vjstangelo ....You are correct the heavy diesel engine does take away almost 1000 lbs off the payload numbers. The same truck with the 6.4L hemi has a payload of 3300 lbs vs that of the diesel which is 2380 lbs, but that is still enough payload for me. Keep in mind the towing spec (SAE J2807) already includes 300 lbs for the driver & passenger, plus another 100 lbs for the WD Hitch.
As for buying through Costco, I've done that in the past and I actually tried three times this time. The local RAM dealer (Merrick Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Wantagh) that is associated with Costco isn't that close to my home. The first time I stopped in unannounced after dropping someone off at JFK airport and was told that I'd need to make a appointment. So a week or so later I made an appointment with the appropriate salesperson and made the 40 minute drive to the dealership (where there is no place to park). When I get there I'm told that I have to wait because someone came in without an appointment. To which I reply "I thought you only did Costco sales with an appointment?" They said it would only be a few minutes and after waiting 30 minutes I left and went home. After I'm home I got a very apologetic phone call from the dealership. Since I knew exactly the options I wanted, they agreed that if I emailed them my requirements they would price out the truck and give me a call. So I sent the email checking the box "Read Receipt", so I know someone read it and I never heard from them again, even after sending a follow up email. That was a month ago! So.....I'm done with them.
I'm planning to head over to the local RAM dealership sometime this week unannounced for a test drive (I really like that idea). If the truck drives/rides well I'll toss them a "take it or leave it offer" for the 2500. I'm thinking of $50K and see what happens. Frankly, I don't expect them to accept it, nor do I expect a reasonable counter offer. I've owned two Dodge trucks and mini-van in the past and none were purchased from this dealership and it's not because I didn't try. In the past they never seemed that interested in negotiating and that's probably why the truck is sitting there so long.
