Truck 2003 Dodge ram 2500 heavy duty 4x4

inside the door this is what it says

GVWR 8800

GAWR 5200 front 6000 rear
  • I was always under the "assumption" that if your headlight did not interfere with airline traffic you were "good-to-go"!:h

But then, I always towed a 5th wheel trailer.
  • The information you provided is from the placard that indicated GVWR, GAWR, etc. Down on the tire placard, it should tell you the max cargo and passenger weight you can carry along with what tires are specified and what the inflation amounts should be.
  • There is no way a stock 2003 Ram HD weighs in at 6000#. You really need to have it weighed! When I had an 03 it weighed in at 7200# with the Cummins, full of fuel and no passengers.
  • I had put the KG in the first time went back and corrected it.

I think we have it figured out.

From what we can tell without weighing the truck is its curb weight is around 6000. So, we are thinking we can haul around 2800 pounds.

So, our max weight for a tc would be 2000. I'm thinking 800-1000 for extra weight. Does this sound about right?

I saw a tc that I really like and wouldn't mind going to look at but it weighs 2200. So, we would be over by 200 pounds give or take. How bad is that? lol
  • Take your truck to a certified scale and weigh it. That will tell you what you can put on the truck.

This looks right to me...2359 front 2722 rear.
