We live by this sentiment. ;)
Bought our first and only (so far) TT in 2003 - 21' Forest River. It does have some water damage now (front window leaked, branch made hole in roof) so we are just going to use it until the "wheels fall off". After that we'll either scrap it or give it away, if someone wants it.
At this point, with kids in college, I am kinda sorta thinking about a Truck Camper when our TT finally collapses.
I don't buy a lot of stuff... when I buy something, I use it for as long as it will last. - TvovExplorer IIBought our first and only (so far) TT in 2003 - 21' Forest River. 1987 Coleman PUP for 2 years - best $500 I ever spent!
1992 Jayco Eagle 265FS for 7 years
Just bought the new-to-us TT this summer - BonefishExplorerRockwood in 2003 as our first, then realized after 6 months needed a little larger one. In 2004 purchased the Wildcat and still going down the road.
Sharon - Opie431ExplorerWe have an 03 we bought new. Do not plan on replacing it. We camp 80-100 nights a year.
- krobbeExplorer2003 to 2012: Had a 1990 ClassC 27'. No kids(when we bought it), no slides, no couch, not much storage, full corner bed. I pulled an enclosed cargo trailer for all the gear. We used it for short trips weekend dirt bike camping
2012 to present: 2009 295BHS Bullet. 2 kids, 2 slides, bunk room, couch, lots of storage, walk around queen bed. We use it to travel across country. So far, so good. - shenandoahvalleExplorerBought a used popup in early 2007 and kept it until October, 2007. Too much set up/take down work for me. Bought a bunkhouse with a small slide and kept it for a little over four years. Then decided I needed less beds and more floor space as I use the current TT about half the year. If this one holds up it will probably be our last RV...or maybe a smaller one in another five or six years.
- LarryJMExplorer II1973 to 1981 Hard Sided Pop Up (Me, DW, one son)
1981 to 2007 26' regular TT (Me, DW, two sons) - got because first was too small for 4 of us and after almost freezing to death one winter night on the plains of Texas in a howling 30's degree wind wanted something a little more weather proof. The insulation and wind resistance in that POP UP was non existant.
2007 to present and till we quite RVing 31' regular TT (Me and DW) replaced previous trailer because after living with a golf ball looking exterior from Hail damage we just wanted something newer.
If it hadn't been for the hail damage we probably would have still had the 26' TT. However, I will say that the current trailer with the small slide and only two of us is REALLY NICE and have enjoyed it so far.
Larry - fly-swatterExplorerHad a truck camper for 4 years then 2 fifth wheels for 5 years each. Bought a new fiver last year so that should do me till I retire, about 10 years .
- Five years in a used Pop-Up. Nine years in the 5th wheel and plan to go six more years.
