I often wonder how accurate all these different types of manual guages are, even the ones they use in tire stores, do these things ever get checked out.
Are they accurate within say 10 PSI, do they maintain their accuracy over time?
Where could you get your guage checked with any degree of accuracy?
If you purchase a quality gauge it will state the accuracy somewhere on the gauge/pkg.
I suppose you could get it calibrated occasionally...might be more cost effective to just buy a new one once in a while.
I think it is more important to track trends in psi than the absolute measurement.
IOW; if my gauge says 80 psi that should be close enough (is it really 80psi? Maybe it is only 79 psi...) but what is more important is the tire holding the psi I inflated to?
If I check later, with the same gauge, and the psi has varied buy more than 1 or 2 psi...then I may have a problem...and I will start keeping a close eye on it.
