I've never used my 50amp to 30amp dog bone much, but it's definitely important to have a quality one in your kit. As always, it's better to have one and not need it, and need it and not have it.
One time at a CG, my PT EMS showed there was an open ground on the 30 amp receptacle at the pedestal. I used the 50amp to 30amp dog bone and simply plugged into the 50amp receptacle. Problem solved.
And as others have mentioned, the 30 amp receptacle gets by far the most wear at a CG. Sometimes it's best to move to the 50 amp receptacle.
