- pianotunaNomad IIIDo get a Dogbone type adapter.
- neschultzExplorerI use one at every campground that has a 50amp outlet. The connections are better. Haven’t had to sand my 30 amp plug in a long time.
- RoyBExplorer IIII carry one... Like others on here it is a good idea to have one as most everyone uses the 30A Pedestal connections and lot of them really look bad compared to the 50AMP side. Its nice to be able to plug the adapter into the 50A side and use it for the 30A Shore Power Connection...
The adapter only uses one side of the HOT connection so there is nothing to worry about connecting into a 50A Service connection with your 30A trailer.
Its just another PLAN B for us...
Roy Ken - DutchmenSportExplorerOnly once in 20 years. But that one time was well worth it. If you travel much, it's a good thing to have. More than likely you may never need it, but that one time you do, you will NOT be kicking yourself.
- ScottGNomadEvery time I park at home!
- BoomerwepsExplorerThanks all for the responses.
I'll be picking up a 50-30 amp adapter soon. - dodge_guyExplorer IIUsually if a site has 50A sure there should be a 30A there also. However, most of the time the 50A is in better shape!
- Very rare to find a 50 amp site with no 30 amp connector.
Only time I have used the adapter is when there is a poor 30 amp connector such as bad ground. - 2oldmanExplorer IINot often.
- Sandia_ManExplorer IIThe 50A to 30A adapter is definitely a worthwhile addition to your RV accessories kit, picked up ours at Walmart a few years ago and it has come in handy primarily for worn out 30 amp outlets at heavily used RV parks. We have a 30A to 15A adapter that has never been used while on the road although it gets plenty of use as we store our rig in our side yard plugged in 24/7.
