In 1975 I drove my mother and Dad back from Alaska to Arkansas in a Dodge D50 with a camper shell. We camped along the way in many remote places. My Dad had a 30 caliber M1, 30-06, and a pistol. I slept in the truck bed and he and my mother slept in a tent. Dad said if I hear him shooting the pistol, open up with the '06 or M1.
We never had to fire a shot, but were ready.
