X2. I've had 3 trailers with Dexter Torflex axles, which you cannot put a jack under. They can only be jacked up under the axle mount bracket.

I've found the easiest way to jack the RV to replace a flat tire is to call the road service 800#. :)

At home I'd use a bottle jack under the axle.

I have a Dutchmen 25 ft. TT. The manual says to lift on the frame. It also says not to lift on the axle.

I chocked everything and left the TT hitched to the TV when I changed a tire. I used a 5 ton bottle jack and several 2x6s for shoring. Once the tire was above the ground I set a stand jack.

I as fortunate enough to change the tire in a parking lot and not at the side of the road.

Be extra careful.

Our rig is too heavy to crank jack under frame, I jack under leaf spring near end of axle when checking brakes and greasing bearings. Never had a blowout of even a flat on our TT but would more than likely use our leveling blocks should the instance occur.

Some of us have single axles and can't use those trailer-aid ramps. :(

I use a car jack under the axle which works just fine. Can't use the leveling boards or trailer aid system because our trailer has wide spacing between the wheels.

So where is the best place to place the jacks in order to lift the trailer to remove a wheel or work on the bearings?

Everyone has their favorite method of jacking a trailer for that purpose.

I use a 12 ton shorty hyd bottle jack that slides under the axle with leaf springs next to the U bolt. The jack is a truckers special made for that purpose. It came with a 6" long channel that is adapted to the jack which cradles the axle tube and eliminate the axle slipping of the jack. The jack simply raises the end of the axle (1500-3000 lbs) instead of the whole side of the trailer.

What ever method you choose make a dry run at home. Over the years I've seen and heard several people say the ramp device they bought for that purpose didn't lift thew flat tire.

For tandem axles I use my leveling blocks to drive one tire up high enough to lift the other tire off the ground. I only do one side at a time as to not put too much load on any single tire. If using a jack I would place the jack under the axle/leaf spring and not the frame.

On my tiny trailer I place the jack on the frame just behind the single axle where the steel is doubled up.
