Reg cab vs crew or ext cab.
As noted, ONLY way to increase payload, is thru lack of options. There are not extra heavy spring options as in the past.
Otherway, go for a 45 series truck. They come or should come with out a door sticker. So THEN if you find the correct after market body builder, they you can increase payload GVWR by doing after market mods. This is harder to find this ability with DOT class 1-3 truck chassis's. If a class 3 chassis cab does not have a cab sticker, then it too can be modified after market. Even "IF" it does have sadi door sticker, an approved aftermarket body manufacture can change the GVW door sticker. Not that in reality, depending upon where you license the truck, the local DOT cares about said doo sticker.
My navistar for example, is licensed at 26000 lbs gvw. Door sticker which is in owners manual in my office, quotes GVW at 18200. Best case gvw is around 31-32K lbs if I max out FBL limits.
So enjoy the door sticker vs real legal weight police amounts you can go down the road at. A dually 35, could go down the road at 31-32K gvw. I'm not going to recommend it. you could legally do so.
If you truly are worried about payload and your camper, buy a 45 series truck.
