How to pull cargo trailer behind a truck camper

The dealer told me today I would need to buy a $1,100 hitch set up to pull a cargo trailer behind a truck camper. This would be a class 5 hitch to replace the class 3 hitch on my truck and also a 48"...

I was clear out in the back forty of the parking lot, next to the road. It was a huge parking lot, and no one was anywhere near me.
