How to sell my travel trailer

We just bought a new travel trailer and I would like to sell my old one.
Where is the best place to advertise it?

I took a look on Craigs list and the dealers have it so clogged up that in one day it gets out of sight

  • I parked mine on my insurance agents lot. The lot was across from a busy store. It took me 10 hours to sell it.

If you're referring to Craigslist, that is a pipe dream in most cases. Every locale that I've searched it seems as if the dealers will post their obvious DEALER ads in the PRIVATE listing section. The local dealer to my house has someone on staff that does nothing but place their entire inventory on Craigslist. One days worth of Craigslist ads will be 98% theirs.

And not just rv's as it's the same deal in the cars and truck sections too.

    Exactly right.

I have been looking for a Stand up paddleboard and when I go on "boats" I always type in "by owner"
It ends up that most of what comes up is by dealers. Either that or some one with the same phone number has about ten different Paddleboards they are selling !

  • rvtrader.com? Everytime I do a search for a specific make/model, it seems to pop up there. It's where I found my current TT. I have no affiliation, and haven't used them to sell one.

  • I purchased my used TT from a small Used Car lot here in town. He had a couple of other TT he was selling on consignment also. If you want your TT to be seen, and do not want the hassle of sitting by the phone all day, you could check a couple of car lots for a consignment sell, if you are in no hurry for a quick sell.
  • Your post is a few weeks old but would your vendor of the new trailer be able to accommodate you with the listing? Obviously they will want a vig but you will stand a chance of selling it. Trying privately you only have the "obvious" places like CL or ebay and if the old Pennysaver has a digital version. The trouble with those are you are the only intermediary in the sale and the tire kickers will be crawling all over the trailer if it is desirable. Even the ones who have no money and no intent of owning can come by an have a look see.
