How to transfer music from albums to a SD card

I just bought a 2016 Ram and there is no CD player but there is a slot for a SD card as well as a USB port. I want to use the SD slot for music input to the radio because the SD is protected in its slot while the USB stick is not.

The problem is how to transfer albums from CD's to the SD card. It is relatively easy to transfer songs but then all the songs from all the CD's appear not organized by albums.

I have them all on Itunes but when they are copied to the SD card many (most?) are organized alphabetically and one looses the order of play chosen by the artist.

So the question is how to transfer the albums to a SD card?

You can have more than one Album folder in an Artist folder.

You can have as many folders / songs as the SD card can hold.

This is the correct answer. Find a good CD-ripping program that will look each CD up in one of the on-line music databases such as Gracenote. I use WinAmp (which is a discontinued product), but I believe Windows Media Player will do the same thing for you. Set up properly, the ripping software will download the metadata, create folders and subfolders as described above, and place all your music in the proper folders with the tagged data. I have thousands of songs and hundreds of "albums" on one USB memory stick. Make sure you rip to a format that your vehicle's sound system can recognize (such as a standard MP3).

The tech corner would probably have been a better place to post this...

  • Can you stream the music from your ipod or phone with bluetooth.

  • Create folders with the album name and copy only those songs to each folder. I only have the uConnect 3.0 and do not have the SD slot - Are you sure the SD slot is not exclusively for radio programming? I have used a USB stick inside the center console and it is protected from being knocked out. You can also use a USB extension cable if the USB connector is in an inconvenient location.

I think you may have to just use a separate SD card for each album. You can get the cards for SUPER cheap on Ebay or even at Walmart. I don't think there's a way to stop the Uconnect system from just blending everything on the same stick together but I've never tried. I kind of like shuffle feature.

The Uconnect system is not the problem. The blending occurs when the albums are copied.

A few albums have copied correctly and they play properly in the Uconnect radio. The problem is the many albums that do not copy correctly.
