My 2010 F450 didn’t have the cord when I bought it, and I added it. Whoever ordered my current truck included the block heater, and all I had to do was find where the cord was hidden.
Depending on year and the state they were delivered to, there may be no factory installed block heater unless ordered.
My 6.7 had no block heater so I installed one. Remove the right front fender liner, cover the starter with plastic and remove the plug installed in the block, then quickly screw the heater in. If you get prepared and work real fast there in only a minor amount of coolant loss.
I never had an issue starting in temperatures well below zero even when all electrical outlets were taken by old school (think 7.3) diesels.
