Actually the bonehead is the one who leaves his scare light on in the campground as some sort of an outside ambient light without realizing that it is directional. See a lot of the time.
X2 on leaving the scare lights on in a campground! OP does say 100 percent boon docking in his sig, so consideration of others in a campground is not an issue.
Just to clear up one piece of info above, LEDs produce less than half the heat of an incandescent bulb with equal lumens.
jirah LED has good products and good info on LEDs.
