If you are wanting to light up your large campsite to work on the ATV's at night, while generator is running, then why not get some fog lights and use them?
I want to improve on the factory setup, that is not as good as it was new. When I fix something, I always try to improve on it.
Lights are there so I can use them to see better. Better light = better vision.
As for the whys... Well, in AZ and NM rattle snakes move at night. I would like to see them before stepping on one. I also like to BBQ at night under the light. Better lighting means better cooking.
I have also skinned out deer and elk at night in camp. Better light makes it easier.
As for campfires, I rarely have time for one. And I would never make one close to the TT anyway.
I am not the least bit concerned about "neighbors" They are a pain in the city, and if I can see one from camp,,, they are too close.
I wish I could find a campsite where the neighbours are far away, around here they tend to stack us on top of each other LOL.
Speaking of rattlesnakes, I agree... I camp at a paddle in site twice a year with friends. The island is full of rattlesnakes, and it is a common fear to come across one. I was just there this past weekend, and I wear a headlight with a red lens to help see them. The red keeps my night vision, but still allows me to see the snakes. I also have a really bright single LED torch light handy.
I like the idea of a vehicle LED light bar for you that someone else mentioned, it is already 12 volts, already weather tight... sounds like a good idea.
