Aluminum bodies aren't all they are all they are cracked up to be. Aluminum has been used for years on car bodies. Maybe it won't rust orange but it carodes just as easy and easier in some cases. Plenty of pant problems will still exist and it's more expensive to repair. Ford is doing it for fuel milage purposes not for the longevity of the body. But it is a good marketing scheme because the general public thinks aluminum = no body problems
Are you speculating or presenting facts concerning auto aluminum body panels?
I've had cars with aluminum body panels for 12 years now and not a single concern or issue with oxidation and paint. That includes living 2 blocks from the ocean for 9 of those years and now in the mountains the last 3. So I'm going to speculate here but... if aluminum car body panels were just as easy or easier to get oxidation I would have seen it by now especially considering the locations I've lived along with the time I've owned those cars.
Seems you are just speculating.
Skid is not speculating at all.
Listen to this report.
Maybe you will believe Fords own TSB? TSB reference number 04-25-1.
Ford wins this one. Mustang owners, not so much.
The bottom line is, Ford is having a lot of corrosion problems with their aluminum painted parts. I would nut up if this happened to my 50 grand Mustang.
