improving TV reception?

I have a mushroom type tv antenna on the top of my 8.6 and I am looking for options for improving reception. Anyone have success improving their over the air tv reception and if so, what did you do? Thanks.
  • The best setup is a Winegard crank up with a Sensar Pro amp and peaking meter.

You can aim the antenna and peak the signal and also adjust the gain.

    You will double your stations.
  • yeah, check to make sure it's wired correctly at the power box. Mine didn't work at all when powered on. Picked up only the strongest signal. Everyone said that's just how omnidirectional antennas are, so I just left it. Bored, one day, decided to pull the wall panel and check it. One coax cable was just hanging in the breeze. Another was connected to the wrong terminal. Way to go Northwood. Fixed it and bam! HD and SD channels coming out the ying-yang. Funny thing is, we still don't use it.
  • You will need a directional model that you can point to the TV tower. If your omnidirectional is a Jensen, it is one of the worst and the omni from Winegard is better with no aiming required.
