In-line water valve question

My Dutchmen RV has two in-line "dump" valves, one in the hot water line and the other in the cold water line. They are operated by either pulling up or pushing down on an attached metal ring.

My question: Do you pull up on the ring to close the line or to dump water from the line?

Thanks.

  • Recomend you drain the hot water tank prior to opening the low point hot line, as there can be a lot of gunk in the water heater. That gunk made it so I couldn't open (lift) the hot water low point drain after awhile, so replaced that cheap valve with a metal turn valve from Lowe's. JMO.
  • Thank you for such a quick reply. Now I won't waste an additional two gallons of anti-freeze figuring it out for myself. :)
