I need a second vehicle for daily driving, and I wish to get a 4 door pickup truck that can also tow our small travel trailer (3500lb when it's loaded).Is it possible to find such a truck that can tow our TT WITHOUT WDH? (that will be nice....)Will any basic F150 or similar model will do? if not, what axle ratio, engine and so on should I get.Please educate me.Thanks.

The f150 has plenty of power to pull 3500 lbs. as far as sway control , the new ones have electronic sway control built in. I wouldn't trust it for a larger trailer but it could work for a small one. If that is your pop up in your signature there shouldn't be a problem. I pulled an old coleman PU all over half the country with an Aerostar van ,never had any trouble with sway.

I don't know of a full size pickup truck that can't pull a 3500 lb trailer easily without weight distribution. Just find one you like, make sure it has a hitch and a brake controller, and go. One of the benefits of using a smaller trailer!Brian

I pull a 2500 lb PUP with my 2011 F-150 4x4 no issue. I also pulled it with my 2002 F-150 2x4 V-6 no issue. I used a straight from Wal-Mart hitch with a 3" drop.I would try it without the WD Hitch and see what you think. You can alway buy the WD hitch later if you do not like the ride. A trip to the CAT scales will give you the axle weights.I would think the biggest issue could be sway. The Blue Ox hitch I have for my 25 ft TT has anti-sway built into it and works fine.
