Install Happijack dually brackets

looking at an Outfitter 9.5 foot model, 2004 model with Happijack, electric power jacks. i have a 99 Dodge CTD B3500 dually.
need dually brakcets, i called Happijack and they say should be simple job to install. they say there are 3 bolts holding the jacks on to the TC. remove these 3 bolts, mount the swing out bracket, using the 3 holes, bolts and then bolt the jacks on to the dually bracket.
has anyone done this and is it done the way they say?
sounds pretty simple to me.
  • I put my old 9.5 Apex on my 03 Dodge dually for a while . The happijac swing outs wont be enough to make it wide enough to clear the bed, 7` camper .
You can use swing outs and 2" happijac spacers and it will clear but the jacks are way out there then
  • Yep my atwood ones worked that way, but I had to swap the jacks L to R so the jack handle came out the correct direction
  • Mine were Atwood's and pretty easy. I backed under so it was supported by the drw, and did one at a time.

I thought that the swing outs were designed to give more clearance.

I sure hope you're wrong, we JUST got our new HJ swing out brackets delivered yesterday. At this point in time, we only have 1/2" between the jack and fender. We're trying to get a bit more.
  • I put mine on when we got our dually. My camper is 7'8" wide and with the brackets on I clear with 1 inch on each side. Makes
lining up super easy. Installation was a snap, a suggestion ... get some stainless nylocks for the reinstall.
  • Yes, done the Happijac dually brackets; yes, it is as easy as that.

On my 1998 Bigfoot 9.6, the brackets *at that time* did not allow clearance for Ford Superduty fenders. I had to space them another 2" each side and still had only about 1/2" clearance. However the ones I bought a year ago where made differently and swung out further, and the jack mounts on the new camper were also different, so plenty of clearance - about 1" each side.

They are ,but the OP has a 7' wide camper
  • Just got an email reply from Brian of Outfitter, he said I will need the 2 inch extension for my truck.
Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it.
