Installing RDS tank

Have a new RDS aluminum tank on order. My truck has only the standard painted boxfloor. No bedliner, no spray in liner. Will I need to put something under the tank like a rubber mat when installing it? I was thinking I may not want it rubbing directly on the steel floor. Maybe just a thin piece of rubber matting?

Reluctant to use any wood on the floor. I left a sheet of plywood on the floor of a small pickup I had several years ago to protect the floor. After a couple years of getting wet and not drying out it started to eat the box floor from the moisture it held.

  • I bolted mine directly to the bed. I have the 80 gal rectangular and it only has 3 mounting holes.
  • How big of tank did you get? Think you might need a few more lbs. in those bags :W
  • I have a rubber mat in my bed that I cut to go around the 5er hitch rails. I installed my RDS right on top of it and bolted through it!
