With the vent trim out maybe you can fish the wire down to the hollow inside wall for a switch?
That's what I'm thinking. Take the fixture loose and have DW stand on a chair and jiggle wires while I fish around inside the wall for the one that moves. It would appear that almost all of the wiring for all of the 12V stuff runs through that wall. I just don't hardly see how this could be rocket science.
