Insulating windows for winter

Hey, I'm thinking of sticking a nice chunk of insulation foam inside my camper windows. Half of them have a 1-2 inch gap between the window and screen. After searching the web I haven't found anyone else doing this and am very curious why. Maybe there's a reason not to do it that I'm not seeing?
I notice that reflectix seems to be the go-to solution for window insulation. From what I gather it's claim to fame is that the material reflects heat back so I'm guessing it would be good to have inside with a blackened material on the outside to promote the absorption of heat. I have a feeling that it would be more suitable for reflecting the sun than keeping heat from a conventional heater inside.
Anyones 1 or 2 cents about this is appreciated!
