$5,000 to replace a vinyl floor?? You must be kidding. Lots of people will be complaining about this as they do every Spring. It happens every year in the cold climates. It's from expansion and contraction. The floors are loose laid, not glued down as there isn't any glue that will work at very cold temps. Very simple tp repair. Cut around the edges and remove the old sheet. Lay the pieces over a new sheet of flooring and use it as a template. Put it in place and hold it down with a quarter round molding around the edges. Done! Now does that sound like a $5,000.00 job to you? I've had to do 3 of mine so far. Just not a big deal..
