Never heard of USAA. Perhaps going with a name brand insurer will provide covered claims in the future.
I once got hit in a drive through, by a kid with a small, unheard of insurer and they wouldn't pay. My insurer, State Farm, took them to court and got everything paid for. In the mean time, State Farm fixed my car under my policy and even sued the other insurer for the deductible I paid. Had other claims as well and they've been great.
Progressive has also been great with my RVs. Did my research before going with them back in 2006.
Seems you may have to push hard to get this fly by night company to pay.
Good luck.
You have never heard of USAA! Guess neither you or anyone in your family has been in the military. USAA is a large financial services/insurance company available to active and retired military as well as their defendants.
Absolutely not a "fly by night" company. They are generally considered a premium provider.
I am a bit surprised by the OPs experience, but I'm withholding judgment since I can only hear one side as well as they have an exclusion listed. I know the OP is more perplexed by other companies covering a claim while USAA won't -- it's a waste of time to even think about that. Their are numerous reasons why a company might expand service levels for one client and not another. They have no obligation to provide service in excess of their contract, but can chose to do so as they see fit.
