We are thinking of swithing from Metlife to AAA (cheaper) and also wonder about Good Sams roadside assistance. We just got the Metlife in June so have no experience with them. About 600 difference in yearly premuims. So if we get AAA do we need Good Sams roadside?

As long as you get AAA's RV Plus or Premiere membership you will be fine, their regular membership will not cover towing a mh or a truck/trailer combination.

I've had experience with both AAA and Good Sam's. In my opinion and experience Good Sam's Roadside Assistance is far better than AAA ever will be. It costs less than AAA and does more for you. For instance, if you break down somewhere out in the boonies far from anywhere Good Sam's will tow your rig to the nearest service provider even if it's three hundred miles away whereas AAA only tows you up to one hundred miles. I've had Good Sam's Roadside Assistance for quite a number of years now and wouldn't want to be without it.

For $5 per year my Geico auto policy covers towing of my truck and camper,if towed as a single unit. Not sure if they can be towed as one or if the camper would have to be separate. Fortunately i have never had to have my rig towed so i hope i don't find out the hard way.

Funny, I am debating this currently. We have AAA RV Plus which has 100 miles towing. We actually had to use it last June when our radiator blew about 150 miles from home with no cell service. Finally got to a signal and within 100 miles and AAA had us towed, no problems. I am thinking about updating to AAA's next level for 200 miles and also adding Good Sam regular with unlimited towing. We find ourselves in places out in the real middle of nowhere (look up South Six Mile Canyon, Jumbled Rock Gulch, Hot Creek Canyon all in Nevada and Silver City, Idaho. Would we be better off with both? We leave Monday for Yellowstone/Tetons taking backroads.

AAA are regional auto clubs and their coverage varies by region regardless of what your home region offers.
Not all regions offer RV coverage...not at all here in New England...

AAA does tow rvs in NY. If you come from a state that AAA does service rvs in ,and breakdown in NY your out of luck. Im sure its more than just NY that your on your own RV wise. Good Sams services at least tehe lower 48.
Not sure about Canada and Alaska.

and none of them will help if you are towing a trailer full of horses. For the horsemen out there, only USRider will tow a dually and your horses and trailer to safety and take the horses to the nearest stabling if your TV cannot be fixed roadside. They will also change the tire on a trailer full of horses for you

just to repeat myself...call "your" local AAA..and ask them specifically "If I need a tire can your road service supply one"
don't get caught on a Sunday afternoon one tire short...
otherwise ....someone will see you Monday morning!! good luck!!!

something to think about....

I have AAA premier rv....I discovered when my brother in law had a blow out that AAA does not have a plan to bring a new tire in case of a blowout...don't know about Good Sam

I went with Coachnet..keep that in mind...
