I have a set of Starkey Halo hearing aids and an iPhone and they are coupled together via Bluetooth. I also have some Starkey software that allows my iPhone to work as a microphone to the hearing aids. So my wife can either call me on her cellphone or I can simply give her my iPhone to use as a microphone and the range would probably be 50 feet or so.
That said - we still use our adult Motorola walkie talkies because change is hard.
