I have a 2004 Expedition with the 5.4 in it. 256,000 miles on it. This is my third high mileage Expedition. Never did an engine repair on any of them. Just my experience.
I talked to a engine rebuilder and there are mod's they do to the motor. He told me oil passages were to small to adequately oil the motor. The cam phaser is a know issue.
Mine is a two valve. The Expedition didn't get the three valve until 2005.
