I don't think they are actually 10 ply anymore, they are letter rated. E rated tires are what used to be called 10 ply. I would get at least an E rated tire, depending upon size.

Ply and Radial are non-comparative terminologies. You certainly want radial, not bias ply, tires.

They aren't. They are '10 play rated' not 10 actual plies in the carcass.
  • I wouldn't use any tire less than a 16" load E tire on a trailer that size. However a 12000 lb trailer says nothing about tire capacity needs.
What is the trailers GVWR ??
What is the trailers axle ratings ??
  • I run E rated tires on my one ton Ford. They used to be 10 plies, but are now 10 ply rated. The sidewalls are typically the weak point and only a couple of plies. Radial tires run with a slight bulge in the sidewall. If you go on rough roads, especially those with fractured basalt, shale or the equivalent it is easy to puncture the sidewall which is definitely not 10 plies.
