Why? I don't get this at all. A 3/4 ton truck doesn't cost much extra, and it is so much more product for the money. It is designed to work. I just don't see any down side. Unless you are married to the idea of a Toyota.
I owned a few 1/2 ton trucks, and in those days there wasn't a heck of a lot of difference in 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks. Today the 3/4 ton is clearly more truck. Don't see myself ever going back to 1/2T.
I think the Tundra will do the job okay. Just don't see the point, but to each their own.
