I have this truck in 2wd with 2583# payload. The 5.0 pulls like a boss although it is often over shaddowed by the ecoboost. I bought mine to eventually upgrade to a 7500# tt. Current tt is about 5000# on the road and the truck handles it quite nicely with a standard curt wdh. I havent hit any mountians yet but even on some steepish hills it is not nessesary to rev it much past 3500rpm and still have reserve to accelerate.
Side note.....it sounds pretty sweet if you do choose to let it spin.
