Hum, I get day in a day out around 18 mpg driving mixed roads and 20 to 21 mpg when I drive the expressway around 60 - 65 mph.
I have a heavy Crew Cab 4WD with a 5.0L and 3.73 electronic locking axle (5768 lbs off the lot according to Tread Act/Tire Loading Sticker). I get better milage than all of my midsize Nissan SUVs and get slightly better than my much lighter 2008 Sport Trac V8.
I've seen the fuelly stuff and I think it's just a bunch of lead footed kids driving in the city making stop light to stop light runs. Not close to reality in what I've seen.
Each to their own but IMO, nothing beats the mileage of a F150 5.0L. Not even an Ecoboost that sucks a lot more gas when the turbos are spinning.
