I agree with looking at a 1500 Chevy/GMC or F150. I have owned my Silverado now since 4/14, it has 1900 lbs payload, plenty of power and as a daily driver I am averaging 18.4 mpg per week in the City (per truck display). At 65 mph on the highway I get 22-23 mpg. Towing- I still get the typical 10-12 mpg. There is nothing wrong with Toyota, we also own a new Camry that is a great car, but, when I compared the Tundra's towing numbers and gas mileage, I just could not justify buying the Tundra.
Pretty good payload and mileage (with that 3.73 axle) for that new 5.3L. I'm thinking my truck with a 3.55 could get closer to 22 mpg but love the performance with the 3.73 axle.
I'm really wishing I would had looked at the 2012 Silverado 6.2L Max Tow package truck but GM really screwed me over where we almost went to court. Even though the trucks look great, don't think I could ever trust them or GM, and why I never bothered looking at that Silverado.
Maybe now they've been called out, they'll be a changed company because I really like what they've done with their trucks except that useless 3.08 axle. :)
