I'm about to get in a GIANT fight with CREE. The 6 LED Ceiling Can replacements in the house when on low, completely jam both mine and my neighbors garage door openers, and all 3 ceiling fan remotes in the house. Good thing we're in a cable neighborhood..
They blew me off until I sent them spectrum analysis screen grabs and told them I'm meeting with the local FCC Enforcement agent this week on something else, how would they like me to show these pix around ? "Can we put you on hold?"
Anyone buying CREE ceiling can replacements, be very aware of the problems they currently have. There may be a recall coming too.
Jeff,
Good on 'ya!
Maybe in a rush to market, Cree didn't test the emissions of the lamp assembly with the metal can (?). I could see how the can may act as an amplifier/antenna for the lamp. Is the interference around 2.4 Ghz or do the fan and garage remote devices operate at a different frequency?
I bet the FCC has a building full of people just waiting to find offenders like this (from previous Gov't. contacts, I'm assuming).
FWIW, I treated a remote control interference problem, once. The fix was to use a ferrite on the power source of the offender. This was a DC device.
